Here is Day 7: Studying Vanderpoel.
As a kind of Christmas gift to myself, I purchased the book, The Human Figure by John H. Vanderpoel. He goes over how to create the human starting with each individual part of the face all the way until the entire human body. So, today, I was studying his chapter on lips.
I’m really enjoying this book so far. I enjoy Vanderpoel’s style because his figures are all so graceful. Another thing that I like about this book is that in the segments where he writes about the process, he does so in a clear and concise way. As somebody who thinks and feels more in pictures, it’s always refreshing to find writers who put things into words better than I ever could. Certain things just began clicking that I couldn’t quite get just from simply drawing and practicing. Hence, I wrote down notes that I thought were helpful as well as draw the lip studies.
